James Bond - Style
At the long-awaited premier of the latest James Bond film, it was Daniel Craig’s appearance on the red carpet wearing a fuchsia pink velvet evening jacket that left many fans shaken but not stirred.
He oozed confidence that only comes from knowing he looked and felt a million dollars. A perfectly fitted double breasted jacket with covered velvet buttons.
A crisp white dress shirt combining with a black velvet bow tie, white pocket handkerchief, black trousers and those incredibly shiny black evening shoes.
It is the attention to detail for those special occasions that sets you apart from the crowd. You could never hope to achieve this look by simply hiring an evening suit.
This is the type of investment every discerning man needs in his wardrobe and can be used in a range of urprisingly flexible ways.
Opting for velvet is a vibrant and confident alternative to traditional black tie. Velvet offers a textural and tactile quality that will allow your personality to really shine through.
There are so many colours – burgundy, red, green, lilac, aqua blue, pink and orange or the timeless favourites of midnight blue and black.
Don’t forget that when it is time to remove your jacket make sure to create an element of 007 surprise with a host of luxurious linings to reflect your personality.
Technically Daniel Craig’s jacket would be classed as a smoking jacket as there was no silk shawl collar, simply a beautiful notched peaked lapel. This will give Daniel far more flexibility to wear in a variety of different settings.
Changing the trousers (as seen in the illustration) to a checked or tweed pair would be a great idea for Christmas and New Year parties or even wear with a pair of smart jeans.
You might not be a fan of velvet or perhaps you already have a D J ready to go but want something more unusual. At Saint Crispin anything is possible.
We have used a fabulous windowpane check in green, gold and black and teamed it with a black silk lapel and worn with black evening trousers, is the perfect combination for a rugby club dinner and the like.
